The Central Florida Scorpions prides itself on being about family, togetherness, respect, and pride within its organization and among their players and staff. The Scorpions faces many challenges and struggles every day and try to teach our young men about how to help cope with and overcome some of the daily struggles one might face in their everyday life.

One shining example of this is our feature player of the month, Mr. Jimmy Lowman who was born with very little use of his left arm. His mother spent 3 days in labor and it was discovered that the umbilical cord was wrapped around Jimmy’s neck and shoulder putting both him and his Mother in grave danger and the possibility of death for the both of them. The doctors made a critical decision and had to break his arm and shoulder for him to pass though the birth canal. Once born, Jimmy faced life threatening surgery and became the youngest person in Florida to have surgery. Nerves were taking from his feet to repair damage to his arm and shoulder, however it would only give him a very small chance of ever using that arm.

As he was growing up, Jimmy had very little confidence in himself and low self esteem. It wasn’t until he turn 8 years old and with the help and strong support of his family (especially his dad), that he began to emerge into the young man he is today. Having come from a football family and a strong spiritual background, he began to realize that he could indeed believe in himself and accomplish almost anything he strive for.

After graduating from high school, he enrolled in college with the hope of obtaining his degree however those dreams where shattered when his financial aid did not come though as promised. This has not deterred his dream, but only to strengthen his goal of a college education by working and searching for the money needed to attend college. The Central Florida Scorpions are proud to have this young man try out and become a member of our family. Because of his determination, dedication, and hard work trying out for every and all positions on the team he is fulfilling a dream to be the best running back possible despite the limited use of his arm and he has inspired other player around him when they see the skills he has demonstrated thus far. Even if he’s not a running back, the love for the game and any position played will still be rewarding. Head Coach Allen and his staff are amazed at what this young seems to be doing on the field and even the players themselves have to stop and watch how well Jimmy plays. When asked how can he catch a ball or block an opponent or do many of the others things he does, his answer is simple…”YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS THOUGH CHRIST THAT STRENGTHEN YOU”. This is not just another saying to him, but a way of life that applies to the way he lives and the journey he will take though out his life. When you meet this young man, you cannot help but feel like he is someone you want to be a friend for life and be inspired to set and accomplish your own dreams.

We thank you Jimmy for allowing the Scorpions the honor of having you on the team!
