Hurricanes1CFScorpions12Everyone knows the destructive power of a hurricane, but can a tiny little scorpion stop such a force? Well that’s exactly what the Central Florida Scorpions look to accomplish over the Hernando Hurricanes as they meet on Saturday April 21, 2012. This game is being featured as the Game Of The Week by the United Football Federation and the winner will become champs of the UFF Central Division.

The Scorpions will look to deliver a powerful sting from their offense and an even more deadlier sting from the defense, while the Hurricanes will most likely look to blow over the Scorpions trying to take away chance of winning. Up for grabs is the Division Title and home field advantage in the second round of the play offs. Although the Scorpions won the first meeting of these two teams, they are not taking this game likely and will try to gain momentum going forward in the play offs.

Not many people believe the Scorpions would be much of a factor as the former owner/coach had to step down during the season, however the mother/daughter team of Stephanie Hunter-Fletcher and Yvonne Hunter stepped in and took over as the new owners, showing as much love and dedication to the team as the players themselves. With hard work, planning, and determination, they were able to organize and motivate the Scorpions to the point of where they are now along with Coach Lucas and his staff.

The owners, coaching staff, and the players have a lot to be proud of as they have come from an unranked team to a ranking of #35 out of 261 in the BCS National Ranking System as of April 21, 2012 and that is how you stop the Hurricanes dead in their tracks!

Yvonne Hunter, steps up to the challenge as the new Scorpions owner….
In a statement by Yvonne:
“My mother and father began this team together and built an organization on goals, values and a vision to help young men. They have done an amazing job. For them to trust me with this organization that they love dearly makes me happy and proud. I love this organization it has become a part of our family.
My dad guided the team in its first-year to the NIFL (National Independent Football League) playoffs and led them to the third round and in Year 2. My mother was and still the backbone of the team she’s the voice of reason and every ones mom. I’ve inherited my love of the game from my father and her detail gene. I only want to step up and make my parents and organization proud based on what my parents started 2 years ago. With that being said I’m looking forward to a great season with the outstanding Coaching staff and greatest players I have ever met.”

Scorpions and Rattlers set to battle !!!

by on Dec.14, 2011, under CFS News

It’s set the Scorpions will battle the Orlando Rattlers of the SAFL Sat. Dec. 10th 2pm @ Emory Hamilton field Central Florida fairgrounds this should be a exciting pre-season match up the two teams have never met before and both are going into the 2012 season under the guidance of new head coaches. Mark Lucas was given the reins of the C F Scorpions when coach Fletcher stepped down due to relocation and Clarence Pankey was promoted to his position when coach Smith stepped down. The Scorpions are coming off a 20-12 win against league champion SWF Bobcats a game which they went into halftime 20-0 and in the second half no starters played all back ups were put in so the first unit really want to flex’s some muscles and show what they are capable of doing giving four quarter to play. Thanks to the Orlando Rattlers for stepping up and helping us out in such short notice.

The Central Florida Scorpions traveled to Ft. Myers to face off with the Defending Champion of the now merged FSFL SWF Bobcats after being elimated from the playoffs one game away from the championship game the Scorpions were looking for some revenge under new head coach

Mark lucas and new OC Chris Lucas the new look Scorpions took their run and gun offense and their new look heat sinking defense straight to the hearts of the bobcats taking no prisoners the Scorpion O-line dominated the Bobcats defense opening holes that even surprise backs they were avg. 8 yds a carry Qb Josh Rose had all day to sit in the pocket and look for his receivers the O-line never gave up a sack and had pressure put on the Qb. The Scorpions pretty much did what they wanted with a 20-0 lead at the half. The second half backups were put it to see were we stood as a team mistakes were made and missed scoring opportunities were made but we

know what we have to work on to improve final score 20-12 this was a great win for us and the start we wanted I know its only preseason but it just the beginning

our last two season we came one game short of the big one because of the lack of O-lineman this year we have that problem solved with the additions we have for the 2012 season. Coach Lucas and the coaching staff have done a tremendous job getting this team ready installing a new offense and defense and getting the players to adapt to it isn’t an easy task my hat off to them great job up next for the Scorpions the Tampa Bay Tigers in Tampa Dec 3rd time and place TBA.
